About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and strategic technology leader to lead our Backend Engineering team. The Associate Director Software Development will be responsible for driving the architecture, design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-performance backend platforms. This role requires solid technical expertise in Java-based technologies, people leadership, delivery management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor multiple backend engineering teams, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
- Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and engineering roadmap for backend platforms.
- Design and develop scalable, resilient, and secure distributed systems using Java and related technologies.
- Partner with Product, Architecture, QA, DevOps, Security, and Business stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Ensure engineering best practices, including code quality, design reviews, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
- Drive modernization initiatives, performance optimization, and cloud adoption.
- Manage engineering delivery, resource planning, estimation, and execution across multiple projects.
- Identify technical risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
- Recruit, coach,



and develop engineering talent while creating succession plans for key technical roles.
- Drive continuous improvement through agile methodologies, engineering metrics, and innovation.

Technical Skills

- Strong expertise in Core Java, Java 11/17+, Multithreading, Collections, and JVM internals.
- Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, and RESTful APIs.
- Experience building Microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, etc.).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, caching, API gateways, and system performance.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, SonarQube, and automated testing.
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or Splunk.
