Job Description: Senior Engineer / Consultant IBM Netcool & ITNM

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced IBM Netcool and ITNM Engineer to join our growing

infrastructure services team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design,

implementation, customization, and maintenance of IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus and IBM

Tivoli Network Manager (ITNM) solutions for our global clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telecom/enterprise network management

systems (NMS), event correlation, and integrating complex monitoring tools to ensure high

availability and seamless network visibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Implementation & Configuration: End-to-end deployment, configuration, and upgrading

of IBM Netcool suite (OMNIbus, Web GUI, Impact) and ITNM (IBM Tivoli Network

Manager IP Edition).

• Discovery & Topology: Configure and fine-tune ITNM discovery agents, stitchers, and

scoping rules to discover complex network topologies accurately.

• Event Management: Write and optimize Netcool OMNIbus probe rules files, lookups, and

triggers for event enrichment, deduplication, and correlation.

• Automation: Develop custom Netcool Impact policies for automated event enrichment,

notifications, and integration with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).

• Integration: Maintain and build integrations between ITNM/Netcool and third-party

monitoring tools, Element Management Systems (EMS), and custom APIs using SNMP,

syslog, or REST.

• Maintenance & Support:



Provide L2/L3 support for the Netcool/ITNM infrastructure,

ensuring optimal performance, database health, and high availability (HA/Failover

clusters).

• Client Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams and clients to gather

requirements, translate them into technical specs, and deliver robust monitoring

solutions.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 4 to 8 years of dedicated experience in administering and engineering IBM

Netcool and ITNM products.

• Core Suite Expertise: * IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus (ObjectServer architecture, Probes,

Gateways).

IBM Tivoli Network Manager (ITNM) / Precision IP.

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact (Policy writing, IPL/JavaScript, DSA configurations).

Netcool Web GUI (TIP/DASH) customization and dashboard creation.

• Operating Systems & Databases: Robust hands-on experience with Linux/Unix

(RHEL/AIX) and relational databases (IBM DB2, Oracle, or Sybase).

• Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in Shell scripting, Perl, Python, or SQL to automate

routine tasks.

• Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of networking protocols (SNMP v1/v2/v3,

TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and network topologies (MPLS, VLANs).

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• IBM Netcool/ITNM certifications.

• Familiarity with ITIL framework (Incident and Problem Management).

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.

• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to effectively interact with

international clients.

• Ability to work independently and manage project deliverables under tight timelines.
