Role Summary
Seeking an experienced Sourcing Manager India to support end-to-end sourcing, supplier development, and cross-border coordination for a major modular build and assembly program serving a European client.
The Sourcing Manager India will lead strategic sourcing initiatives across India and select emerging manufacturing markets. Acting as a strategic extension of the Global Supply Chain organization, this role is responsible for supplier identification, cost modeling, commercial negotiation, and risk mitigation across complex sourcing programs.
This position requires strong commercial judgment, technical understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to independently represent Harbor Labs in regional supplier markets while ensuring alignment with global performance, compliance, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Development
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with global cost, quality, and capacity objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard manufacturing suppliers across metal, plastic, composite, and assembly categories.
- Conduct structured supplier due diligence including capability audits, financial stability reviews, and capacity validation.
- Lead RFQ/RFP processes and perform total landed cost (TLC) analysis including tooling, freight, duties, and currency exposure.
- Recommend supplier award decisions based on commercial, technical, and risk assessment criteria.
- Build and maintain a forward-looking regional supplier pipeline aligned with global demand forecasts.
Commercial & Cost Governance
- Drive annual cost reduction initiatives and productivity improvements.
- Lead commercial negotiations including pricing structures, payment terms, tooling agreements, and long-term contracts.
- Conduct benchmarking and raw material cost tracking to support competitive pricing strategies.
- Provide variance analysis against cost targets and budget benchmarks.
- Support contract renewals and multi-year pricing frameworks.
Supplier Performance & Risk Management
- Establish and monitor supplier KPIs covering quality, delivery, cost, and compliance.
- Implement supplier scorecards and continuous improvement programs.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies including dual sourcing, capacity balancing, and contingency planning.
- Ensure supplier compliance with ISO/IATF standards, trade regulations, and ethical sourcing frameworks.
- Proactively identify geopolitical, logistics, or regulatory risks affecting supply continuity.
Logistics & Cross-Border Coordination
- Collaborate with logistics partners to optimize freight, container planning, and export documentation.
- Ensure adherence to Incoterms, customs compliance, and international trade documentation standards.
- Coordinate closely with global planning teams to align production schedules with shipment timelines.
Market Intelligence & Global Integration
- Track regional trends in raw materials, labor costs, and trade policy changes.
- Provide executive-level sourcing updates and maintain comprehensive audit and supplier visit documentation.
- Serve as the primary communication bridge between U.S./European leadership and regional supplier partners.
- Support global sourcing diversification and long-term supply resilience strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing or supplier development within manufacturing or automotive sectors.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, molding, casting, fabrication, assembly).
- Proven experience managing RFQ processes and cost modeling.
- Familiarity with import/export procedures, Incoterms, and international trade compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of collaboration tools (Teams or equivalent).
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel regionally up to 25%.
