Senior/Expert Application Developer Java/.NET with AWS Modernization

About the Role and What Youll Be Doing

The Senior Application Developer is a hands-on engineering role focused on modernizing enterprise applications on AWS. This position combines solid Java and/or .NET development expertise with proven AWS migration and modernization experience to re-architect, refactor, and re-platform legacy applications into cloud-native solutions.

The Senior Developer will play a key role in the end-to-end modernization lifecycle from application assessment and code refactoring to containerization, serverless adoption, microservices decomposition, and deployment on AWS. This role partners closely with Architects, Cloud Engineers, DevOps, and Application teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized cloud-native applications.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development Modernization

- Design, develop, and modernize enterprise applications using Java (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, J2EE) and/or .NET (.NET Core, .NET 6/8, C#, ASP.NET) for AWS deployment
- Refactor and re-architect monolithic applications into microservices using cloud-native patterns
- Migrate on-premises Java/.NET applications to AWS using appropriate strategies rehost, replatform, refactor, and re-architect
- Convert legacy components to containerized workloads and deploy on Amazon ECS, EKS, or Fargate
- Modernize applications to serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and EventBridge
- Re-platform legacy databases and integrate with Amazon RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and ElastiCache
- Implement event-driven and message-based architectures using SQS, SNS, Kinesis, and Amazon MSK
- Migrate .NET Framework applications to .NET Core / .NET 6+ to enable cross-platform, Linux-based cloud deployment
- Modernize Java applications by upgrading frameworks, JDK versions,



and adopting Spring Boot / Spring Cloud patterns for cloud readiness

AWS Cloud Engineering

- Develop and deploy applications leveraging AWS services: EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, CloudFront, Cognito, Secrets Manager, and Parameter Store
- Implement 12-factor app principles and cloud-native design patterns (circuit breaker, retry, bulkhead, saga, CQRS)
- Integrate applications with AWS IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, and Cognito for security and identity management
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and event-driven interfaces for cloud-native integration
- Optimize applications for cost, performance, scalability, and resilience on AWS

Code Refactoring Migration Execution

- Perform application discovery and assessment to identify modernization candidates and define migration strategies
- Refactor code to remove on-premises dependencies (file systems, hard-coded configs, legacy libraries) and adopt cloud-native equivalents
- Externalize configuration using AWS Parameter Store / Secrets Manager / AppConfig
- Migrate application data stores from on-prem Oracle/SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL, RDS, or DynamoDB
- Support database schema conversion using AWS SCT and data migration using AWS DMS
- Modify or reconfigure middleware, API calls, message formats, schedulers, and integration logic to align with the AWS target state
- Troubleshoot and resolve migration issues encountered during build, test, cutover, and stabilization

DevOps, CI/CD Automation

- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Harness/Jenkins/GitHub, or Azure DevOps
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Adopt Git-based workflows, code reviews, unit/integration testing, and automated quality gates (SonarQube, Checkmarx)
- Implement automated testing frameworks
