Role & responsibilities

1. Pre-operative Care:

- Prepare operation theatres, equipment, instruments, and materials required for surgeries.
- Verify patient identity, consent, and pre-operative readiness.
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation under aseptic conditions.

2. Intra-operative Assistance:

- Assist surgeons and anesthetists during surgical procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques throughout the procedure.
- Handle surgical instruments, sutures, and materials efficiently.
- Monitor patients condition and support anesthesia team as needed.

3. Post-operative Care:

- Ensure safe transfer of patients to recovery area or ICU.
- Document surgical details, instrument counts, and post-operative notes accurately.
- Observe patients for immediate post-operative complications and inform concerned physicians.

4. Infection Control & Safety:





- Follow sterilization and disinfection protocols for instruments and OT environment.
- Adhere to infection control, biomedical waste management, and safety guidelines.
- Report and document any equipment malfunction or safety hazard.

5. Documentation & Communication:

- Maintain OT registers, checklists, and patient records accurately.
- Communicate effectively with surgical, anesthesia, and nursing teams.
- Participate in handovers, briefings, and audits.

6. Skilled Conduct & Development:

- Maintain discipline, ethical behavior, and confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in in-service education, skill enhancement, and training programs.
- Support teamwork and mentor junior staff when required.
