Role & responsibilities :
Manage the operation and maintenance of utility systems, including high pressure boilers, thermic fluid heaters, cooling towers, air compressors, brine chillers, water chillers, HVAC systems, purified water systems, DM plants, RO plants, and N2 plants.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Utility department team, including direct supervision of Utility Operators, Brine Operators, and purified water system and HVAC.
- Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, and performance metrics aligned with overall plant efficiency and safety targets.
- Manage the Utility department budget, including maintenance, spare parts inventory, and operational expenses.
Technical Operations & Maintenance:
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of all critical utility systems, ensuring high reliability and efficiency. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Water Systems: Purified water systems, water treatment, and distribution systems (managed by PU water Operators).
- Refrigeration/Cooling Systems: Brine preparation, circulation, and chilling units (managed by Brine Operators).
- General Utilities: Boilers, air compressors, HVAC, steam distribution, and power generation/distribution systems (managed by Utility Operators).
- Develop, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs for all utility equipment to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex utility system failures quickly and effectively.
- Ensure all utility operations comply with environmental regulations and internal corporate standards.
Core Responsibilities:
- Preventive & predictive maintenance design & oversee schedules for all utility equipments to prevent unplanned downtime this includes vibration analysis thermography & oil analysis.
- Asset management track the health of high value assests decide when it is more cost effective to replace all assest then to keep repairing it.
- RCA: Lead investigation into major equipment failure using methodologies like the 5 Whys or fishbone diagram to ensure the same issue never happen twice.
- Manage to track work orders, spare parts inventory and labour hours.
- EHS & Compliance: Ensure all utility operation meet OSHA, FSSA, EPA & local govt. Codes, responsible for LOTO safety protocols & environment permits.
Safety & Food Grade Compliance:
- Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and operation for all utilities relevant to a Food Grade workplace, preventing contamination risks.
- Ensure the utility systems meet stringent water quality and temperature specifications critical for food processing.
- Implement and enforce strict safety procedures (e.g., LOTO, confined space entry, hot work permits) within the department.
Efficiency & Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost reduction.
- Manage capital projects related to utility system upgrades, capacity expansion, and installation of new equipment.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of RO plant operations, boiler operation, refrigeration cycles, and air compression systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) software.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Emergency Optimization:
- Utility Consumption pattern & implement project to reduce electrical - Gas & water waste
- KPI: MTBF, OEE maintenance backlock
Maintenance Strategies: Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
Consumption Monitoring: Monitor utility consumption across operations.
Budget & Inventory Management: Prepare and control the utility maintenance budget and manage spare parts inventory.
