Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced Water Supply Expert to provide technical leadership and specialist engineering support for the planning, design, and implementation of major water supply infrastructure projects. The role requires extensive expertise in hydraulic engineering and water distribution systems, including transmission mains, storage reservoirs, and distribution networks. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of sustainable, effective, and resilient water infrastructure solutions in accordance with international standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, analysis, and design of water supply infrastructure projects.
- Provide hydraulic modeling and engineering support for transmission and distribution systems.
- Review and optimize designs for water conveyance systems, pumping stations, storage reservoirs, and associated facilities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable national and international design codes, standards, and best practices.
- Conduct technical reviews, design validation, and quality assurance of engineering deliverables.
- Support project planning, feasibility studies, detailed engineering design, and construction supervision activities.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
- Identify technical risks and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
- Prepare technical reports, design calculations, specifications, and bid documents.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and project staff.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, or related discipline, with specialization in Hydraulics from a recognized university.
General Experience
- Minimum 15 years of professional experience in water sector projects.
Specific Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in the design of major water infrastructure systems, including:
- Transmission mains
- Water distribution networks
- Storage reservoirs
- Associated water supply facilities
- Experience as a Hydraulics Engineer on a minimum of three (3) projects of similar scale and complexity.
- Demonstrated experience working in similar geographical, environmental, or operational conditions.
- Experience with international donor-funded or large-scale infrastructure projects will be an advantage.
- Permanent employment with the proposed organization for the assignment period is desirable.
Language Requirements
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Qualified Engineer registration or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as WaterGEMS, EPANET, InfoWater, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary and international project teams.
