Embedded Linux Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Linux Engineer with robust expertise in Yocto-based Linux development and IoT communication protocols. The candidate will work on next-generation residential and commercial IoT solutions for Legrand product segments, contributing to connected devices, gateways, and smart automation platforms.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain Embedded Linux platforms using Yocto/OpenEmbedded.
- Customize Linux kernel, device drivers, BSPs, and root file systems.
- Design and implement communication stacks and networking features for IoT devices.
- Work on protocols such as SNMP, TCP/IP, MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, and related networking technologies.
- Integrate and optimize embedded applications on ARM-based platforms.
- Collaborate with hardware, cloud, mobile, and QA teams for end-to-end product development.
- Debug system-level issues involving networking, boot-up, performance, and memory optimization.
- Participate in architecture discussions and technical reviews.
- Support product validation, deployment, and field issue analysis.





Required Skills

- Strong experience in Embedded Linux development.
- Hands-on expertise with Yocto/OpenEmbedded build systems.
- Good understanding of Linux kernel, bootloader (U-Boot), and device tree concepts.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++.
- Experience with networking and IoT protocols:
- SNMP
- TCP/IP
- MQTT
- HTTP/HTTPS
- SSH/TLS basics

- Experience in socket programming and multithreading.
- Familiarity with ARM-based embedded systems.
- Strong debugging skills using tools like GDB, Wireshark, Valgrind, etc.
- Experience with Git/version control systems.

Preferred Skills

- Experience in smart home, building automation, or industrial IoT domains.
- Knowledge of cloud connectivity and edge computing concepts.
- Familiarity with BLE, Zigbee, Matter, Modbus, or other IoT protocols is an added advantage.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated build systems.
- Understanding of cybersecurity concepts for connected devices.
