Roles & Responsibilities Rigging & Lifting Expert (Summary)
- Plan, supervise, and monitor all lifting and rigging activities in accordance with approved lifting plans, statutory regulations, and client requirements.
- Prepare and review lifting plans, method statements, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Risk Assessments (HIRA) for routine and critical lifting operations.
- Ensure safe execution of heavy lifting activities involving cranes, hoists, gantries, forklifts, and other lifting equipment.
- Inspect and verify the condition and certification of lifting tools and tackles, including wire ropes, slings, shackles, hooks, chain blocks, lifting beams, spreader beams, and lifting accessories.
- Ensure cranes, lifting equipment, and accessories have valid third-party inspection certificates and are fit for use.
- Verify load weight, centre of gravity, crane capacity,
ground conditions, and lifting radius before commencing lifting operations.
- Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, signalmen, supervisors, and project teams to ensure safe and effective lifting activities.
- Monitor compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), exclusion zones, lifting procedures, and safe work practices during lifting operations.
- Conduct toolbox talks and provide guidance on safe rigging techniques, load handling, and lifting hazards.
- Investigate lifting-related incidents, unsafe conditions, and near misses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain lifting registers, inspection records, lifting plans, equipment certification records, and statutory compliance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with LEEA, LOLER, OPITO, OSHA, client specifications, and applicable international lifting standards.
