Title : Splunk Engineer / Splunk Developer
Location: Remote
Overview
We are seeking an experienced qualified to drive enterprise observability and operational monitoring initiatives using Splunk. This role will focus on enhancing visibility across applications, infrastructure, and network environments by developing dashboards, optimizing monitoring, and onboarding diverse data sources.
Key Responsibilities
Splunk Dashboard Development: Design and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and alerts for operational, security, and business use cases.
SPL Query Optimization: Build advanced SPL queries for analytics, reporting, and visualization.
Data Onboarding: Integrate new log sources, normalize data formats (JSON, XML, CSV), and validate indexing quality.
Log & Event Analysis: Perform root cause analysis by correlating logs, metrics, and events.
Network Observability: Onboard and analyze telemetry from routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other devices.
Performance Monitoring: Develop dashboards for network health, traffic analysis, and operational metrics.
Collaboration: Partner with engineering and operations teams to improve troubleshooting and optimize performance.
Mandatory Skills
Splunk Enterprise / Splunk Cloud
Search Processing Language (SPL) advanced commands (stats, timechart, transaction, eval, rex, lookup, mv)
Log Analysis & Dashboard Development
Regex, Linux/Unix fundamentals
Data formats: JSON, XML, CSV
Network Monitoring & Telemetry (Syslog, SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, Streaming Telemetry)
TCP/IP Networking Fundamentals
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles
Qualifications
10+ years of IT experience, including 2 3 years hands on Splunk expertise
Strong background in enterprise monitoring, observability, and operational reporting
Experience with structured/unstructured log data and field extractions
Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques and alerting best practices
Familiarity with infrastructure operations, application support, or security monitoring
Ability to correlate network events with infrastructure and application telemetry
Exposure to AI productivity tools (GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, GenAI solutions)
Nice to Have
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience with network observability platforms (ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, Cisco Catalyst Center, ExtraHop, Dynatrace, AppDynamics)
Background supporting NOC or network engineering teams
Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP)
