Position Summary

The LabVantage LIMS Developer is responsible for designing, configuring, customizing, and supporting the LabVantage Laboratory Information Management System. This role works closely with laboratory users, QA, validation teams, and IT to deliver scalable LIMS solutions that support regulated (GxP) and nonregulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. LIMS Development & Configuration

- Configure LabVantage modules (Sample Manager, Inventory, Stability, ELN, SDMS, etc.).

- Develop custom LabVantage components including:

- Java-based server-side code

- Groovy scripts

- Web Page Designer (WPD) customizations

- Workflows, dashboards, and business rules

- Develop and maintain master data (products, tests, specifications, methods).

2. System Integration

- Build and maintain interfaces with external systems:

- ERP (SAP/Oracle)

- MES, CDS (Empower/Chromeleon)

- Instruments (via SDMS/instrument integration tools)

- Reporting systems

- Use REST/SOAP APIs and integration middleware as needed.

3. System Architecture & Design

- Participate in requirement analysis and solution design sessions.

- Build scalable, validated LIMS solutions that meet business needs.

- Contribute to database schema design and SQL optimization.

4. Validation & Documentation

- Support system validation in GxP environments (CSV, IQ/OQ/PQ).

- Create and maintain:

- Technical design documents

- Configuration specs

- Test scripts (unit, functional, IQ/OQ)

- Release notes and deployment guides

5. Support & Enhancements

- Troubleshoot system issues and perform root-cause analysis.

- Provide Level 2/3 support for global LIMS users.





- Implement enhancements and continuous improvement changes.

- Perform version upgrades, patching, and environment migration activities.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

- Hands-on experience with LabVantage v8.x or v7.x.

- Strong expertise in:

- Java, J2EE

- JavaScript, HTML, CSS

- Groovy scripting

- SQL (Oracle/PostgreSQL/SQL Server)

- Experience with LabVantage tools:

- Web Page Designer (WPD)

- LIMS workflows

- Jasper Reports / Crystal Reports

- Admin and master data setup

- Knowledge of system integration using APIs, middleware, or ESB tools.

Domain Knowledge

- Understanding of laboratory processes in:

- QC, R&D;, Stability, Microbiology

- Familiarity with regulated environments:

- GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, data integrity (ALCOA+)

- Knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and change management.

Soft Skills

- Robust analytical and problemsolving skills.

- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with crossfunctional teams.

- Experience interacting with business stakeholders and end users.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor s/Master s in Computer Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field.

- LabVantage certification (Developer/Administrator) is a plus.

- Experience with cloud deployments (AWS/Azure) preferred.

- Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Boomi, MuleSoft) is advantageous.
