Role & responsibilities
- Lead and manage the entire Stores Department, including raw materials, consumables, bought-out items, welding consumables, paints, fasteners, spare parts, and finished goods.
- Ensure timely receipt, inspection coordination, storage, preservation, and issue of materials.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Monitor daily material availability to support uninterrupted production.
- Ensure 100% ERP/SAP transaction discipline for all inward, outward, transfers, and inventory adjustments.
- Coordinate closely with Procurement, Production, Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Finance, and Dispatch departments.
- Conduct periodic physical verification and annual stock audits with minimal inventory variance.
- Implement FIFO, FEFO, 5S, Kaizen, Lean Warehouse practices, and visual inventory management.
- Monitor warehouse space utilization and improve storage efficiency.
- Ensure proper identification, traceability, preservation, and handling of materials.
- Develop inventory control systems to reduce inventory carrying costs.
- Analyze inventory trends and generate MIS reports for management review.
- Handle internal and external audits related to inventory and statutory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with ISO systems,
safety standards, and company policies.
- Develop and mentor the Stores team to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in warehouse operations and material movement.
Preferred candidate profile
- Graduate in Engineering, Commerce, or Management. Additional qualification in Materials Management or Supply Chain Management will be preferred.
- 20 - 25 years of experience in Stores and Warehouse Management.
- Experience in Wind Tower Manufacturing, Heavy Engineering, Steel Fabrication, Pressure Vessel, EPC, Structural Steel, or similar manufacturing industries is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent.
- Excellent understanding of inventory management, warehouse operations, logistics coordination, and material planning.
- Experience in handling large-volume steel inventories and production-support materials.
- Valuable analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead large teams and coordinate with cross-functional departments.
- Knowledge of statutory compliance, internal controls, and audit requirements.
