Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic Tool Room Engineer with 2+ years of experience in tool room operations within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in tool maintenance, die maintenance, jigs & fixtures, and AutoCAD. The candidate will be responsible for supporting production by ensuring the availability, maintenance, and continuous improvement of tooling systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
- Prepare, modify, and maintain tooling drawings using AutoCAD.
- Ensure timely availability of tools to support uninterrupted production.
- Analyze tooling failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve tooling-related issues.
- Support new product development by participating in tool trials and process validation.
- Maintain tooling history, maintenance records, and documentation.
- Inspect tools periodically to ensure optimum performance and tool life.
- Recommend improvements in tooling design to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and Lean Manufacturing.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience in Tool Room operations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of tool maintenance, die maintenance, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and tooling drawings.
- Knowledge of CNC, VMC, milling, grinding, turning, drilling, and machining processes.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Dial Gauge, and Bore Gauge.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance and root cause analysis.
- Good analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of TPM, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing practices.
Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Tool & Die Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in Tool Room operations in a manufacturing industry.
