About Pierian Services
Pierian Services is a Global Business Services company delivering Finance Accounting Outsourcing, GCC Setup Management, BPM, HR Payroll, Tax Compliance, Tech Enablement, and Risk Advisory to clients across North America, APAC, the Middle East, and the UK.
Founded in 2002, we operate with 2,000+ professionals across 11 global offices. India s retail sector is one of the fastest-growing sources of GBS demand in the region with large retail groups consolidating shared services, e-commerce operators building permanent operational infrastructure, and global retail brands establishing India GCCs at pace. Pierian s Retail vertical is expanding to meet this demand, and this role sits at the centre of that growth.
The Opportunity
This is a principal solutioning role with end-to-end ownership from the first client conversation through to solution sign-off and onboarding completion. As Retail Solutions Architect, you will own the design, commercialisation, and transition architecture for Pierian s Retail vertical pursuits in India.
You will work with Pierian s BD and Pre-Sales teams to respond to complex client briefs from Indian and global retail businesses designing FAO, BPM, GBS, and GCC solutions that are commercially credible, operationally sound, and built to be delivered. You will architect the client onboarding journey for each new win, ensuring that what was sold is what gets implemented, and that the transition experience sets the foundation for a long-term relationship.
You will work directly with Pierian s senior leadership, Delivery Leads, and BD teams owning the solution from first discovery through contract, and remaining accountable through the transition phase.
What You ll Own
Solution Design Architecture Own the end-to-end design of Pierian s solutions for Retail vertical pursuits including scope, service model, operating model, staffing, technology, and transition approach. Lead discovery and solutioning workshops with client stakeholders. Produce solution documents that are commercially viable, operationally credible, and differentiated not templated responses that repackage the service catalogue.
Client Onboarding Architecture Design and own the onboarding architecture for new Retail clients including transition planning, knowledge transfer frameworks, ramp timelines, risk mitigation, and go-live readiness criteria. Ensure continuity between what was proposed during the sales cycle and what gets delivered during implementation. Act as the principal architecture owner through the first 90 days of each new engagement.
Commercial Modelling Pricing Build commercially sound business cases for Retail pursuits. Own pricing inputs, cost modelling, and deal structuring in collaboration with BD and Finance. Ensure every solution is priced with full awareness of delivery cost, transition risk, and long-term commercial health not just the winning number on a bid sheet.
Pre-Sales Collaboration Bid Leadership Work with Pierian s BD leads and Pre-Sales Analysts to shape pursuit strategy and response approach for Retail RFPs,

RFIs, and proactive proposals. Lead or co-lead oral presentations and solution defence sessions with client stakeholders. Ensure Pierian s response is architecturally sound, commercially competitive, and differentiated.
Solution Library Capability Development Build and maintain Pierian s Retail solution library standard scope templates, operating model blueprints, onboarding playbooks, and transition frameworks. Contribute to the development of Pierian s Retail vertical proposition, identifying capability gaps and working with delivery leadership to close them. Improve pursuit efficiency and response quality with every engagement.
Delivery Oversight Transition Governance Maintain architecture ownership through the transition phase of each new Retail engagement. Work with Delivery Leads to resolve scope interpretation issues, manage client expectation alignment, and ensure the delivered solution matches the design intent. Identify delivery risk early and propose architectural adjustments before they become commercial problems.
Who We re Looking For
The Design-First Architect
You approach every client brief as a design problem, not a documentation exercise. You invest time in understanding the client s business model, operating context, and strategic intent before you put a solution on paper. Your solutions are built around client outcomes, not Pierian s service catalogue and you understand the difference between the two. The best solutions you have designed are the ones that the delivery team could actually implement.
The Retail Domain Expert
You understand the Indian retail and consumer sector well enough to have a point of view on it. You know how a fashion retailer s shared services differs from a grocery chain s, what an omnichannel operator s finance and accounting complexity looks like, and where a global retail group setting up a GCC in India will encounter the most operational friction. You can talk to a retail CFO about their business not just your service offering.
The Transition Architect
You know that the hardest part of winning a client is not the proposal it is what happens in the first 90 days. You have designed onboarding architectures for complex, multi-tower service transitions, managed knowledge transfer in environments with turnover risk, and built ramp plans that survive contact with operational reality. You treat the transition as the first test of the architecture, not a post-sales afterthought.
The Commercial Partner
You understand that a outstanding solution no one can afford or deliver is not a great solution. You build commercial models with the same rigour as operating models.

You know where the cost risk lives in a transition, what the margin implications of a technology dependency are, and how to structure a deal that works for the client and for Pierian. You do not leave pricing to Finance and solutioning to Delivery you own both.
What You Bring
6 10 years in solutions architecture, pre-sales solutioning, or delivery leadership within GBS, BPO, FAO, GCC advisory, or shared services with demonstrated experience designing and owning complex, multi-tower solutions for clients in the Retail or Consumer sector; candidates whose experience is primarily in generic IT solutioning or product presales without services delivery exposure are unlikely to be the right fit
Proven track record of building winning solutions for RFP and proactive pursuit processes owning the architecture from discovery and commercial sign-off, through transition, and into early delivery; the ability to point to engagements you designed and stayed accountable for
Deep understanding of the Indian Retail and Consumer sector operating context: financial processes, shared services maturity, GCC dynamics, and the procurement behaviours of Indian retail businesses and MNC retail subsidiaries setting up or scaling India operations
Demonstrated experience designing client onboarding and transition architectures: transition planning, knowledge transfer frameworks, ramp modelling, risk mitigation, and go-live governance for complex, multi-process service transitions
Strong commercial acumen: ability to build pricing models, cost projections, and deal structures that are commercially defensible, delivery-aware, and long-term sustainable not just bid-winning
Experience leading or co-leading solution presentations, oral defences, and solutioning workshops at CFO, COO, and Head of Shared Services level; the ability to defend the architecture under pressure and adapt in the room
Familiarity with technology enablers relevant to Retail FAO and BPM: ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, D365), RPA, analytics, and process automation tools sufficient to make informed design decisions, not necessarily to implement them
Ability to build and maintain a reusable solution library scope templates, onboarding playbooks, operating model blueprints that improves the quality and speed of future pursuits
Strong written communication: the ability to produce solution documents, executive summaries, and commercial proposals that are clear, concise, and credible under senior client scrutiny
Based in Bangalore or Mumbai; comfortable with client-facing travel within India and periodic international travel for global pursuit activity
MBA, CA, CMA, or relevant post-graduate qualification preferred; professional certifications in process design, shared services, or transition management are an advantage
