Role & responsibilities
- Lead fabrication of process equipment, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, structures and heavy fabricated assemblies.
- Plan and monitor production schedules to meet quality, cost and delivery targets.
- Supervise fabrication, machining, welding and assembly activities as per approved drawings and standards.
- Ensure compliance with ASME/IS/AWS codes, WPS and customer specifications.
- Develop fabrication methods, jigs & fixtures to improve productivity and quality.
- Coordinate with Design, Planning, QA/QC, Procurement and Projects for smooth execution.
- Monitor manpower, machine utilization, production, productivity and fabrication costs.
- Manage customer inspections, TPI, NDT activities and quality documentation.
- Ensure preventive maintenance of fabrication equipment and adherence to safety standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and mentor shop-floor teams.
Preferred candidate profile
- 15+ years of experience in heavy fabrication and process equipment manufacturing.
- Robust knowledge of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, structural fabrication and machining.
- Expertise in welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, SAW), WPS/PQR and electrode selection.
- Sound knowledge of ASME, IS, AWS codes and fabrication standards.
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, manpower management and productivity improvement.
- Knowledge of fabrication costing, MIS reporting and ERP/SAP systems.
- Familiarity with NDT methods (PT, MT, RT, UT) and TPI/customer inspections.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement practices.
