Role & responsibilities

Job Purpose

To lead the end-to-end development of new Sheet Metal products from concept to mass production by coordinating with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams while ensuring compliance with APQP, PPAP, customer requirements, and IATF 16949 standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead new product development activities for Sheet Metal components.
- Plan and execute projects in line with APQP milestones and customer timelines.
- Coordinate with customers to resolve drawing, design, and engineering-related issues.
- Conduct feasibility studies for new products considering manufacturing capability, quality, cost, and delivery.
- Develop prototypes and samples and obtain customer approvals.
- Prepare and submit PPAP documentation for customer product approval.
- Coordinate and arrange Customer QAV (Quality Assurance Visit) for new products and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
- Ensure successful handover of approved products to the production team for mass manufacturing.
- Implement and monitor Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) from customers.
- Establish and validate assembly lines for recent product launches.
- Drive Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to achieve cost reduction through alternate materials, process improvements, and supplier development.
- Utilize PLM/Enovia for product lifecycle management, document control, and engineering changes.
- Interface effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Purchase, Tool Room, and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of deliverables.




- Improve productivity through process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce customer complaints by implementing robust quality controls and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 requirements and maintain all relevant engineering documentation.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualification

- B.E. in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

- 15+ years of experience in New Product Development within the automotive manufacturing industry.
