SMBT is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Officer to ensure a safe and compliant working environment across the hospital and medical college. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing safety policies, conducting inspections and audits, ensuring statutory compliance, and promoting a strong culture of workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with hospital safety standards, fire safety regulations, and all applicable statutory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Monitor workplace safety practices, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and infection control measures.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Plan, organize, and conduct fire drills, mock drills, and emergency preparedness training programs.
- Coordinate with the Fire Department and other regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with legal and safety requirements.
- Maintain safety documentation, inspection reports, licenses, permits, and statutory records.
- Conduct safety induction programs and awareness sessions for employees, students, and contractors.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of biomedical waste in coordination with relevant departments.
- Promote continuous improvement in safety standards and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Fire & Safety, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Additional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or Fire Safety Certification will be an added advantage.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 3-8 years of experience in a Safety Officer role, preferably in a hospital, healthcare, medical college, or industrial environment.
- Sound knowledge of fire safety regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and statutory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and training skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with internal departments and external regulatory agencies.
