Position: PHE & Fire Design Engineer

Function: MEP Design/ Engineering

Experience: 3 to8 years in building services / MEP design

Location: Nambiar Builders Head Office, Kadubeesanahalli, Bangalore

Job Objective:

To carry out the design, drafting, and coordination of Public Health Engineering (PHE) and fire protection systems for residential and commercial building projects in compliance with national and local codes.

Key Responsibilities:

Public Health Engineering (PHE):

- Design internal and external plumbing systems:
- Domestic water supply (cold & hot)
- Flushing water systems
- Stormwater drainage
- Soil & waste systems
- Prepare water demand calculations, pipe sizing, pump head calculations.
- Design STP, WTP, rainwater harvesting, and greywater recycling systems.
- Create and update PHE layout drawings, schematics, and riser diagrams.
- Coordinate with architects, structural, HVAC, and electrical teams for clash-free layouts.

Fire Protection Design:

- Design of fire suppression and detection systems:
- Sprinkler systems
- Wet risers, hydrants, hose reels
- Fire pump rooms, water storage tanks
- Fire alarm and detection systems
- Prepare hydraulic calculations and system sizing as per codes.
- Ensure designs meet NBC, IS codes, and local fire authority requirements.




- Assist in preparing documentation for Fire NOC applications and authority approvals.

Design & Coordination:

- Prepare shop drawings, GFC (Positive for Construction) drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Use AutoCAD and optionally Revit for BIM coordination.
- Support the design team in preparing technical specifications and BOQs.
- Coordinate with site teams and vendors during execution to ensure design compliance.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or Civil.
- Experience: 38 years in building services / MEP design
- Software Skills:
- AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Revit MEP (preferred)
- MS Excel for calculations

Knowledge of Codes:

- NBC, IS codes, NFPA, Local municipal and fire authority norms

Deliverables:

- Design drawings (schematic & detailed)
- Hydraulic and system calculation sheets
- Technical specifications & BOQs
- Coordination reports
- Authority submission packages

Key Attributes:

- Attention to detail and design accuracy
- Good technical documentation skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with sustainable and water-saving design practices
- Familiarity with smart water metering and automation in plumbing systems
