Would you like to be part of a team that delivers high-quality software to our customers
Are you a highly visible champion with a can do attitude and enthusiasm that inspires others
About the Role:
The GBEC Digital Platform domain engineering team is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our growing infrastructure practice in India. In this role you will be a key contributor and technical leader responsible for designing, building, and evolving the cloud infrastructure that underpins our digital platforms. You will partner closely with software engineering, security, and architecture teams to define infrastructure standards, drive automation, and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our environments.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Automation IaC
Own and evolve the team s Terraform codebase, establishing module standards, state management conventions, and code review practices that scale across multiple teams and cloud accounts.
Drive the migration of ad-hoc or manually provisioned infrastructure to fully automated, version-controlled IaC with clear change workflows.
Evaluate and introduce new IaC tooling or scripting approaches where they improve reliability, developer experience, or operational efficiency.
Platform Engineering Cloud Operations
Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure components including VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancers, managed Kubernetes clusters, and database services.
Ensure platform reliability through SLO definition, monitoring, alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch), and on-call participation.
Drive cost optimization initiatives by right-sizing resources, implementing autoscaling policies, and providing regular cloud cost reporting to engineering leadership.
Maintain and improve disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity capabilities,
including runbooks and regular DR drills.
CI/CD Developer Enablement
Design and operate CI/CD pipelines that enable rapid, safe delivery of application changes, incorporating automated testing, security scanning, and compliance gating.
Serve as a platform owner and subject matter expert, helping product engineering teams onboard to internal developer platform capabilities.
Define and publish golden paths and self-service infrastructure templates to reduce toil and improve development velocity.
Security Compliance
Embed security best practices into infrastructure design, including least-privilege IAM policies, secrets management (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager), and network segmentation.
Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure meets relevant regulatory and audit requirements.
Implement and maintain infrastructure drift detection, policy-as-code (e.g., OPA, Checkov), and automated compliance reporting.
Technical Leadership Documentation
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on IaC, cloud operations, and DevOps best practices through code reviews, pairing, and structured knowledge-sharing sessions.
Produce high-quality architecture decision records (ADRs), implementation plans, and operational runbooks as a standard part of every initiative.
Actively participate in planning ceremonies, representing infrastructure concerns, capacity planning needs, and risk assessments to broader engineering leadership.
Requirements
- 7+ years of OOP and full-stack experience; .NET, Java, C++/C#, Python, Node.js
- Hands-on JavaScript, React, Next.js environments.
- Hands-on DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering experience in production cloud environments.
- Extensive, demonstrable experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), with deep expertise in Terraform; familiarity with Pulumi, AWS CDK, or Crossplane is a plus.
- Proven track record of designing and planning large-scale infrastructure implementations end-to-end, from architecture and capacity planning through phased rollout and post-deployment validation.
- Strong experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and its core services (compute, networking, storage, IAM, managed databases).
- Solid background in CI/CD pipeline design and tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Tekton).
- Experience operating container orchestration platforms, particularly Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, or GKE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Google Qualified Cloud Architect, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- HashiCorp Terraform Associate or Professional certification.
- Experience with GitOps methodologies and tooling (e.g., Flux, ArgoCD) for declarative infrastructure and application delivery.
- Hands-on experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) in production Kubernetes environments.
- Familiarity with platform engineering concepts and Internal Developer Platform (IDP) frameworks such as Backstage.
