Microsoft Project Web App (PWA) Administrator The Role

The Microsoft Project Web App (PWA) Administrator is responsible for the configuration, administration, and optimization of Microsoft Project Web App, Project Online, and Project Server environments. The role balances technical administration with project coordination to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable project management solutions aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities System and Project Management

- Configure, maintain, and support Project Web App environments including Project Online and Project Server subscriptions.
- Manage licensing and access (Project Online Professional or Premium).
- Set up new projects, manage project templates, and import SharePoint task lists to standardize project creation.
- Oversee project lifecycle activities including project setup, coordination, and close-out support.

User and Security Administration

- Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions for project managers, team members, and portfolio stakeholders.
- Create and maintain Microsoft 365 security groups to simplify access control and ensure compliance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot user access and security issues to ensure productivity.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

- Provide technical support for PWA users related to project creation, scheduling, task assignments, and system issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, configuration, and integration-related issues.
- Continuously monitor system performance and recommend improvements.

Configuration and Application Administration

- Provide subject matter expertise in the design, configuration, and implementation of Microsoft Project Server and Project Online.
- Translate business requirements into scalable PPM, resource management, and reporting solutions.
- Support corporate and remote offices with administrative project management needs.

Reporting,



Integration, and Optimization

- Develop and optimize reports using Power BI, Excel, and PWA reporting services.
- Maintain integrations with Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Power Platform.
- Support custom scripting and automation where applicable.
- Provide best practice guidance for portfolio, resource, and demand management.

Training and Documentation

- Provide guidance and training to project managers and team members on effective PWA usage.
- Create and maintain system documentation, configuration guides, and support artifacts.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- 8+ years of experience with strong Proficiency in Microsoft Project Web App, Project Online, and Microsoft 365 tools including SharePoint, Excel, Power BI, and Power Platform.
- Strong expertise in SQL, Java and MS Sharepoint.
- Experience with user management, security groups, and access control in Microsoft 365.
- Strong understanding of project, portfolio, and resource management principles.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support diverse stakeholder groups.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

- Microsoft Project or Project Online certification.
- ITIL or other IT service management certification.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale PPM implementations.
