Core KRAs & Metrics for Metallurgy Lab Engineer:
Your Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) as a Metallurgy Testing Engineer will focus on ensuring material quality, safety, and compliance through rigorous testing and analysis.
1. Material Testing & Analysis
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Perform ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, and radiographic inspections.
- Microstructural Analysis: Prepare metallographic samples and then inspect them using Metallurgical Microscope” and “Micro Vickers Hardness Tester”
- “Weld Penetration Testing” in welded components
- Failure Analysis: Investigate component failures to determine root causes of failure.
- Publishing technical reports: Compile transparent documentation with photographic evidence and definitive conclusions for engineering teams
2. Lab Operations & Equipment Management
- Calibration and maintenance: Manage daily operation and validation of equipment used in the Metallurgy Lab.
- Inventory and consumables safety: Track chemical reagents, and cutting blades while ensuring adherence to health and safety compliance protocols.
3. Process Support & Heat Treatment Verification
- Verifying heat treatment: Audit “Induction Hardening”, and “Tempering” parameters by evaluating post-process sample structures.
- Inspecting inbound materials: Cross-check incoming raw materials, castings, or forgings against industrial criteria like IATF standardRole & responsibilities
