Project Role : Operations Engineer

Project Role Description : Support the operations and/or manage delivery for production systems and services based on operational requirements and service agreement.

SUMMARY:
Act as the ongoing interface between the client and the system or application. Responsible for administration of Linux server environments (RHEL), Red Hat Satellite for lifecycle and patch management, and Ansible-based configuration management and automation across a hybrid on-premises and cloud estate.

Roles Responsibilities:

- Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) including installation, configuration, package management, and OS hardening

- Administer Red Hat Satellite (6.x / 6.1x) including content views, lifecycle environments, activation keys, host groups, and capsule server management

- Manage Red Hat subscriptions, repositories, errata, and content lifecycle promotion across Development, QA, and Production environments in Satellite

- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for automated Linux provisioning, configuration management, patching, and compliance enforcement

- Orchestrate Linux patch deployments across the hybrid estate using Red Hat Satellite remote execution and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)

- Administer Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) / AWX: manage job templates, inventories, credentials, projects, and scheduled automation runs

- Monitor Linux system health, performance metrics (CPU, memory, disk I/O, network), and respond to alerts using monitoring platforms

- Manage LVM volumes, NFS / CIFS mounts, file system expansion, and storage configuration across the Linux estate

- Perform root cause analysis for OS-level incidents including kernel panics, OOM conditions, service failures,



and network issues

- Maintain Ansible playbook repositories (Git), Satellite content view documentation, patch calendars, and system runbooks
Enterprise Tools Platforms:

- Linux OS: RHEL 6/7/8/9/10, YUM / DNF, systemd, cron, firewalld, OpenSSH

- Red Hat Satellite: Satellite 6.x / 6.1x, Content Views, Lifecycle Environments, Activation Keys

- Ansible: Ansible Core, Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), Roles, Playbooks,

- Monitoring: Splunk

- Patch Management: Red Hat Satellite, Remote Execution jobs, Ansible patch playbooks

- Automation: Ansible, Bash / Shell, Python, Git (playbook version control), Terraform (basic)

- ITSM: ServiceNow

SLA / KPI Ownership:

- Ensure adherence to SLA/KPI commitments across all managed Linux, Red Hat Satellite, and Ansible automation environments

- Track MTTR (Mean Time to Resolve) and MTTA (Mean Time to Acknowledge) for all Linux infrastructure incidents

- Monitor patch compliance rates, Satellite content sync health, Ansible job success rates, and server availability

- Publish service performance reports and contribute to monthly service review decks
Client Facing Responsibilities:

- Participate in war room calls during major Linux platform or Satellite-related incidents

- Handle escalation matrix and maintain clear communication with application, security, and business stakeholders

- Provide timely status updates during incidents, patch cycles, and infrastructure provisioning change events

- Participate in governance, service review, CAB, and capacity planning meetings





- Coordinate with Red Hat Technical Support, Red Hat TAM, and Ansible support teams for critical issue resolution

Professional Technical Skills:

- Good communication and stakeholder management skills in a client-facing environment

- Ability to handle critical Linux infrastructure incidents and coordinate escalations under pressure

- Adaptable to work in a hybrid on-call or 24/7 rotation model as required

- Strong analytical mindset with a focus on automation, patch discipline, and configuration consistency at scale

- 3 to 5 years of total experience in Linux system administration with hands-on Red Hat Satellite and Ansible in a hybrid environment

- Hands-on production experience administering Red Hat Satellite including content views, lifecycle environments, and remote execution

- Practical experience developing Ansible playbooks and roles for Linux configuration management and patch automation

- Familiarity with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) for centralized automation management at scale

- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) required Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation strongly preferred

- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6/7/8/9/10), Red Hat Satellite (6.x / 6.1x), Ansible (Automation Configuration Management), Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), Linux Patch Lifecycle Management, Bash / Shell Scripting,

- Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Relevant industry certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation, or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Satellite Administration are strongly preferred.
