Role & responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and agile General Manager Plant & Machinery to lead the planning, procurement, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of construction plant and equipment across multiple infrastructure and EPC projects. The ideal candidate will ensure maximum equipment availability, cost efficiency, statutory compliance, and operational excellence while supporting project execution within schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall Plant & Machinery function across multiple construction projects.
- Develop equipment deployment plans based on project schedules and resource requirements.
- Manage procurement, hiring, mobilization, demobilization, and disposal of construction equipment.
- Ensure optimum utilization of plant and machinery to maximize productivity and minimize idle time.
- Establish preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability.
- Monitor equipment performance, fuel consumption, breakdowns, and maintenance costs.
- Develop and monitor annual plant budgets, operating costs, and capital expenditure.
- Negotiate with equipment suppliers, OEMs, rental agencies, and service providers.
- Ensure statutory compliance, equipment certifications, insurance, and safety standards.
- Implement digital fleet management, GPS tracking, and equipment monitoring systems.
- Analyze equipment lifecycle costs and recommend replacement or refurbishment strategies.
- Lead plant workshops and maintenance teams across project locations.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Procurement, Finance,
and HSE departments.
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for plant operations and maintenance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment productivity and cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and environmental regulations.

Required Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM is an added advantage.
Experience Required
- 18–25 years of experience in Plant & Machinery Management within large EPC, infrastructure, industrial, or construction projects.
- Experience managing heavy construction equipment for roads, buildings, industrial plants, power, oil & gas, metro, airports, or similar projects.
- Proven experience in fleet planning, workshop management, maintenance, and equipment lifecycle management.
