Role & responsibilities

- Supervises day-to-day functioning of the department.
- Assigns responsibilities of specific areas to technical staff on a daily/ weekly/ monthly basis, as decided in the departmental policy.
- Supervises scheduling of the tests.
- Performs various tests under supervision of the Consultant

A. Holter Monitoring & ECG

- Prepares the patient, attach the electrodes in the following manner: - Left Shoulder Green, Right Shoulder -Red
- Instructs the patient not to detach the machine himself or herself and come after 22-24 hours for removal of machine.
- Transfers the data to the computer and within 20-30 mins the "Prospective Monitoring" is done.
- Observes the scanner screen to identify the irregular heart pattern.
- Sections of abnormal heart beat patterns are printed.
- Sends the printed strips to the consultants for the analysis and interpretation and report generation.

B. Tread Mill Test (TMT)

- Prepares the patient, attach the electrodes in the following manner:- Right Shoulder Red and Left Shoulder Green.
- Patient is connected to the monitoring device and is asked to walk on the treadmill till THR is achieved
- Values of B.P., heart rate and rhythm, respiratory rate are recorded.
- The pre and post P.F.T. test reports are printed and send to the consultant for interpretation.

C. ECHO/ Dobutamine Stress Echo

- Prepares the patient by positioning him/her on the bed and apply gel on the chest.
- The electrography transducer is placed on the chest wall and images are taken.

- Supervises day-to-day functioning of the department.

- Images are recorded on films and send to the consultant for interpretation and report generation.

D. Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)

- Pre- Evaluation of the patient’s condition.




- Preparation of the patient for the test
- Assist the doctors in the test.
- Post evaluation of the patient’s condition.

E. P.F.T. (Pulmonary Function Test)

- All the entries required for the identification of the patient is entered into the P.F.T. machine.
- Patient is connected to the P.F.T. machine using sterile mouthpiece through a corrugated hosepipe.
- Patient is instructed to perform the breathing maneuvers 2-3 times.
- If the test shows obstructive lung diseases, a bronchodilator is given. The same test is repeated after 4-5 mins.
- The pre and post P.F.T. test reports are printed and send to the consultants for interpretation.

F .Ensure that all the equipment in the department is in valuable condition.

- Checks daily status of the equipment.
- Reports to the concerned personnel any technical issues identified with the equipment.
- Coordinates with the biomedical engineering department and the respective company support team to rectify, in a timely manner, any fault identified with any of the equipment.
- Creates department policy for ensuring safety and proper maintenance of the equipment.
- Supervise the other technicians during procedure
- Trains junior technicians in the functioning of the department.
- Advises the chairman in approving and granting leaves to the technical staff.
- Any other duties assigned by Chairman- Institute of Preventive & Clinical Cardiology

Preferred candidate profile

Candidate must have relevant experience of Atleast 2 yrs of experience of Non Invasive Cardiology in Reputed Hospital.

Candidate must have experience of Diploma or Bachelor's in Cardiology.
