Assistant Professor Genetics Plant Breeding

Key Responsibilities

- 1. Teaching Academic Duties:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in:
- Plant Breeding, Genetics, Seed Technology, Molecular Biology, Cytogenetics / Quantitative Genetics
- Develop lesson plans, course materials, and practical lab sessions
- Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations
- Evaluate student performance (exams, assignments, viva etc.)

2. Research Development:

Conduct research in areas like: Crop Improvement and Evaluation, Molecular breeding, Biotechnology applications in agriculture

Publish research papers in Scopus/Web of Science, as per UGC guidelines, peer-reviewed journals

Apply and contribution for consultancy, research grants, and funded projects

Collaborate with national/international research institutions

3. Extension Outreach

Outreach programme for Experiential Learning

Extension activities for the benefit of local community,

Work with farmers and agricultural agencies to transfer new crop varieties and technologies

Conduct field trials and demonstrations

Organize training programs, workshops, and seminars

4. Administrative Responsibilities





Assignments for NAAC and other Accreditations

Participate in departmental meetings and committees

Assist in curriculum development and academic planning

Help in organizing conferences, academic events, and exams

Required Qualifications Essential:-

Ph.D. in Genetics and Plant Breeding / Plant Breeding

Strong academic record (Master s + Bachelor s in Agriculture or related field) Desirable;

Teaching experience of three years

Desired Skills

Knowledge of modern breeding techniques (marker-assisted selection, genomics)

Laboratory and field research skills

Scientific writing and publication ability

Communication and teaching skills

Data analysis (bioinformatics/statistics tools)

Good command in the Computer and IT skills

Work Workplace

Combinations of Classroom teaching and Laboratory work

Field research (crop trials) and demonstration in Lab and agri-farms

Good Team member
