Financial Reconciliation Lead / Billing Reconciliation SME

This person should not be only a QA tester or only a data migration developer. They should be a finance-billing bridge: someone who understands insurance billing transactions, accounting impact, and migration data validation.

Role In The Project
The Financial Reconciliation Lead owns the proof that money has migrated correctly from Guidewire BillingCenter to Existing Project.

Key responsibilities:

- Define the reconciliation strategy for the migration.
- Compare source vs target balances at account, policy, invoice, payment, receivable, credit, refund, write-off, and suspense levels.
- Validate open balances, unapplied cash, overdue amounts, installment schedules, commissions, taxes/fees, and GL/accounting totals.
- Work with Data Migration team to identify data issues and transformation defects.
- Work with Finance/Accounting to confirm financial sign-off.
- Support mock migrations, cutover rehearsal, production migration, and post-go-live reconciliation.
- Produce reconciliation reports and exception logs.
- Decide which differences are acceptable timing differences vs true defects.

Experience Required
I would look for 8-12+ years total experience, with at least:

- 5+ years in insurance billing, finance operations, or accounting reconciliation.
- 3+ years on insurance platform implementation or migration projects.
- Strong experience with billing systems, ideally Guidewire BillingCenter.
- Experience reconciling financial data across source and target systems.
- Positive SQL/data analysis ability, even if they are not a pure developer.
- Understanding of insurance receivables, payments, refunds, cancellations, reinstatements, write-offs, commissions, taxes, and GL postings.
- Prior cutover or mock migration experience is highly valuable.

Qualification
Preferred qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business, Information Systems, or related field.
- CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent accounting qualification is a strong plus, especially for senior roles.
- Insurance domain certifications are useful but not mandatory.
- Data/BI skills such as SQL, Excel advanced formulas, Power BI, Tableau, or reconciliation tools are valuable.

- A senior insurance billing finance SME with strong data skills, or
- A data migration/reconciliation specialist with strong insurance accounting knowledge.
