The Head of the Department (HOD) will provide academic, administrative, and strategic leadership to the Department of Allied Health Sciences. The role involves ensuring excellence in teaching, research, curriculum development, student success, accreditation compliance, faculty development, industry collaboration, and departmental growth. The HOD will foster innovation, interdisciplinary learning, and a research-oriented academic environment while maintaining high standards of quality education.

Academic Leadership

- Lead the academic planning and overall functioning of the department.
- Ensure effective implementation of NEP 2020, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), CBCS, and university academic regulations.
- Develop, review, and update curricula in line with industry requirements and regulatory standards.
- Monitor teaching quality, lesson plans, course files, assessments, and student learning outcomes.
- Promote innovative teaching methodologies, simulation-based learning, and digital learning tools.

Faculty Management

- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members.
- Allocate teaching workload and ensure optimum faculty utilization.
- Conduct faculty performance reviews and facilitate career development.
- Encourage faculty to pursue funded research, patents, consultancy, and high-quality publications.

Research & Innovation

- Promote interdisciplinary and translational research in Allied Health Sciences.
- Encourage publications in Scopus, Web of Science, and SCI-indexed journals.
- Facilitate grant applications to national and international funding agencies.




- Support innovation, entrepreneurship, startups, and intellectual property generation.
- Develop Centres of Excellence and research laboratories.

Student Development

- Monitor academic progress and student performance.
- Promote internships, clinical training, industrial visits, and research projects.
- Strengthen mentoring, career guidance, and placement support.
- Encourage participation in conferences, workshops, competitions, and community outreach programs.

Administration

- Prepare departmental strategic plans and annual budgets.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate academic schedules, examinations, timetables, and laboratory management.
- Maintain departmental records, documentation, and academic reports.
- Conduct departmental meetings and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Accreditation & Quality Assurance

- Lead departmental activities related to NAAC, NBA (where applicable), NABL, and other accreditation requirements.
- Ensure documentation for IQAC and academic audits.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and quality benchmarks.
- Implement continuous quality improvement practices.





Industry & Institutional Collaboration

- Establish collaborations with hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, biotechnology industries, pharmaceutical organizations, research institutes, and healthcare organizations.
- Facilitate MoUs, consultancy projects, guest lectures, and collaborative research.
- Strengthen internship and placement opportunities for students

Qualification

- Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Medical Life Sciences, Radiology, Medical Imaging Technology, Allied Health Sciences, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university.
- First Class at Bachelor's and Master's level in the relevant specialization.

- Minimum 15 years of teaching, research, and academic administration experience in higher education.
- At least 5 years of experience as Professor, Head of Department, or equivalent academic leadership position.
- Proven experience in curriculum development, accreditation, faculty management, and institutional administration.
- Strong academic and administrative leadership.
- Sound knowledge of NEP 2020, OBE, CBCS, and accreditation frameworks.
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong research profile with quality publications, funded projects, patents, and consultancy
- Experience in industry collaboration and institutional development.
- Effective planning, decision-making, budgeting, and team management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, LMS platforms, Microsoft Office, and digital academic tools.
