Job Description: The DM Plant Head manages all activities within the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and DM plant to produce high-purity water. This includes overseeing ion exchange regeneration, RO plant operations, chemical dosing, water testing, and ensuring strict compliance with boiler water quality standards and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

- Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day operations of the DM plant, pre-treatment plant, and RO system, ensuring 24/7 availability of high-purity water.
- Water Chemistry Monitoring: Supervise testing of raw water and treated water parameters (pH, conductivity, silica, hardness) to ensure they meet OEM specs.
- Regeneration Process Control: Oversee the timely regeneration of cation, anion, and mixed bed (MB) units.
- Maintenance Planning: Prepare and execute preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance programs for pumps, valves, filters, and dosing systems.
- Team Management: Train and manage operators and chemists, scheduling shifts to ensure continuous operations.
- Safety and Workplace: Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations regarding chemical handling, effluent management (ETP), and safety standards.
- Chemical/Spares Inventory: Monitor inventory levels of chemicals (HCl, NaOH,



bleaching powder) and spares for the DM plant to prevent shortages.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain daily logbooks, chemical consumption reports, and water quality reports.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or B.Sc/M.Sc in Chemistry.
- Experience: 15+ years in thermal power plant water treatment, with 3–5 years as a section in-charge or head.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of Ion Exchange resins, RO membrane maintenance, chemical handling, and SCADA/PLC operation.

Required Skills

- Strong analytical skills for water chemistry troubleshooting.
- Team leadership and administrative skills.
- Knowledge of safety norms related to chemical handling (acid/alkali).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Water Quality parameters within the limit (Silica & Conductivity).
- Specific chemical consumption optimization.
- Minimizing water losses during regeneration.
- Maintaining 100% plant availability.
