Own detailed 3D modelling and drafting of suspension components (control arms, knuckles, struts, bushings, subframes, links, springs, dampers) using CATIA V5.
Build and maintain robust, parametric, and associative CAD models that support downstream CAE, manufacturing, and tooling requirements.
Manage full product lifecycle data (EBOM structure, effectivity, engineering change notices) within Teamcenter / 3DX
Ensure design intent aligns with GD&T; requirements, datum strategy, and tolerance stack-up specific to suspension kinematics and hard points.
Packaging & Interference Management
Conduct detailed packaging studies at vehicle level, ensuring suspension travel (jounce/rebound), steering angles, and wheel envelope are accommodated without conflict.
Perform agile and static IPS checks across full suspension travel range, verifying clearance to body, brakes, wheel, tyre, and adjacent chassis systems.
Validate FSS CAD against styling surfaces and master sections to confirm suspension hard point and travel compliance with vehicle-level targets.
Lead cross-functional package reviews with Body, Chassis, Brakes, Steering, and NVH teams to resolve packaging conflicts early in the programme timeline.
Design Assurance & Governance
Drive DPA checks at each design milestone ensuring compliance with Ford's global engineering standards and release gate criteria.
Support DFMEA, tolerance stack-up, and root cause analysis for packaging or interference-related issues identified during prototype builds or physical validation.
Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design manufacturability, assembly sequence feasibility, and serviceability of suspension components.
Program & Cross-Functional Coordination
Represent Suspension CAD/Packaging function in vehicle-level integration meetings and program timing reviews.
