Job Summary
Production Activities
Ensure active and effective backup policies in place.
Monitor system for performance and load issues.
Apply system patches as appropriate.
Manage execution of application patches and ensure rollback strategy is in place.
Performance monitor system for slowest queries and provide regular report to development team.
Profile T-SQL and fine-tune queries through hints, application of keys or restructuring of query.
Plan for future scale and performance needs based upon historical data and projected system growth.
Resolving database maintenance and corruption issues.
General Trouble-shoot issues in all environments as and when needed.
Excellent problem solving and effective research skills
Dedication and willingness to work some alternative schedules as necessary
Extensive experience writing SQL queries and stored procedures
Extensive experience optimizing queries and database objects, including expert skills in index design and maintenance
Experience with SQL Server Service Broker, SQL Server in a Windows Cluster setting, and Always On Availability Groups




Experience with monitoring tools such as SQL Monitor, Scom, Service now ticketing tools.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team or independently
Experience mentoring and training developers in best practices and patterns for developing SQL Server code and designing objects

Key Responsibilities
5+ years of experience in SQL Server Database administration.
Support daily DBA activities including maintenance operations not limited to Backups, Restores & Index rebuilds.
Manages SQL Server Security, which includes User and Server logins Authentication modes, Administering Server Database Objects permission, Database Roles Creation and updating as per request.
Configure and monitoring Replication, log shipping and mirroring.
Installation of Active Passive Sql clusters as per requirement.
Ability to support Always on (FCI and AG) for HA and Log Shipping, Mirroring for DR in SQL Server 2012/2014.
In-depth knowledge of Windows Operating system & Storage internals.
Support database related security and audit all database events in DBA ticketing system.
Should have good knowledge in SQL Server DMV’s, DMF’s and system catalog views.
Proficient in writing T-SQL scripts for SQL Server automation and scheduling jobs through SQLAgent
Troubleshooting SQL Server with tools like SQL Server extended events, SQL Profiler, Databasetuning advisor for any major application issues.
Support SQL Server Integration Services jobs and work with teams related to any issues.
Recommending & Implementing Microsoft Best practices in environment.
