Job Summary

The Duty Medical Officer (DMO) is responsible for providing timely, high-quality medical care to patients during assigned shifts. The DMO performs clinical assessments, manages emergencies, coordinates with consultants and nursing staff, ensures continuity of patient care, and maintains accurate medical records while adhering to hospital policies and clinical protocols.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess, diagnose, and provide initial medical management for patients presenting to the Emergency Department, Outpatient Department (OPD), and inpatient wards, as applicable.
- Examine patients, obtain medical histories, and develop appropriate treatment plans within the scope of practice.
- Stabilize and manage medical and surgical emergencies until the consultant or specialist assumes care.
- Monitor admitted patients, review clinical progress, and initiate appropriate interventions when required.
- Coordinate with consultants, specialists, nursing staff, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other departments to ensure timely patient care.
- Perform clinical procedures such as IV cannulation, suturing, wound dressing, catheterization, nasogastric tube insertion, CPR, and other procedures as per competency and hospital protocols.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies, code blue calls, and patient deterioration.
- Prescribe medications, investigations, and treatments in accordance with hospital policies and applicable regulations.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medical records, progress notes, discharge summaries, and treatment documentation.
- Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control practices,



patient safety standards, and clinical protocols.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education (CME) programs.
- Support medico-legal case management and complete documentation as per statutory requirements.
- Participate in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Perform any other clinical duties assigned by the Medical Superintendent or Hospital Management.

Qualifications

- MBBS from a recognized medical college.
- Valid registration with the State Medical Council or National Medical Commission (NMC).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.

Experience

- 0–3 years of experience as a Medical Officer or Duty Medical Officer in a hospital setting.
- Fresh MBBS graduates with valid registration may also be considered, depending on hospital requirements.
- Experience in Emergency Medicine, ICU, or Critical Care is an added advantage.

- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) or Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
- Commitment to ethical medical practice, patient safety, and confidentiality.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
