Position Title: Shadow Teacher

Job Summary

A Shadow Teacher provides one-on-one support to a student with special educational needs in a mainstream classroom. The role focuses on helping the student participate in academic, social, and behavioral activities while encouraging independence and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individualized support during classroom lessons and school activities.

Assist the student in understanding instructions and completing classwork.

Implement learning and behavior support strategies as guided by the school's support team or therapists.

Encourage the student's social interaction with peers and participation in classroom activities.

Monitor and document the student's academic, behavioral, and emotional progress.

Communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and other professionals regarding the student's development.

Support the student during transitions, breaks, and extracurricular activities when required.

Maintain confidentiality and follow all school policies and safeguarding procedures.

Promote independence by gradually reducing support as the student's skills improve.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology,



Special Education, or a related field (preferred).

Certification or training in Special Education is an advantage.

Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and therapists.

Good observation and documentation skills.

Basic understanding of learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, or other developmental needs.

Ability to adapt teaching strategies based on the student's individual needs.

Working Conditions

Work within a school environment during regular school hours.

Accompany the assigned student throughout the school day.

Participate in meetings, training sessions, and career development activities as required.
