What you will own
- ERP architecture and roadmap. Define module boundaries, extension patterns, integration contracts, upgrade strategy, and technical priorities.
- Complex operational workflows. Design and implement robust flows across manufacturing, procurement, inventory, finance, HR, quality, and project operations.
- Custom Frappe applications. Lead domain modelling, DocTypes, permissions, workflows, reports, background jobs, print formats, and reusable components.
- System integration. Own dependable two-way synchronization between ERP and external platforms using APIs, webhooks, queues, retries, idempotency, and reconciliation.
- Engineering delivery. Break outcomes into realistic releases, estimate honestly, surface risk early, and deliver working increments against agreed dates.
- Quality and reliability. Introduce practical automated tests, code review standards, observability, rollback plans, backups, and incident follow-through.
- Security and access governance. Apply least privilege, secure secret handling, environment separation, auditable access, and controlled production changes.
- Technical leadership. Review code, coach engineers, challenge weak solutions, document decisions, and reduce dependency on any single team member.
What we expect you to be positive at
- Deep hands-on experience building and operating production systems on Frappe Framework and ERPNext.
- Strong Python and JavaScript fundamentals,
including the ability to debug framework behaviour below the UI layer.
- Solid understanding of ERP data models, accounting implications, stock ledgers, manufacturing, permissions, and workflow design.
- Designing integrations that survive duplicates, timeouts, partial failures, schema changes, and out-of-order events.
- Database performance, queues and scheduled jobs, migrations, patching, deployment, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Converting messy business processes into clear system rules without blindly automating broken processes.
- Writing concise technical documentation and communicating trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Using AI coding tools to accelerate research, testing, and implementation while independently validating security, correctness, and maintainability.
Experience
- Typically 6+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years of substantial Frappe/ERPNext delivery.
- Evidence of leading at least one end-to-end ERP implementation or major custom platform—not only support tickets or isolated customizations.
- Experience owning production releases and resolving real incidents.
- Public contributions, maintained applications, technical writing, or a strong portfolio are valuable but not mandatory.
