Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Work Location: Onsite (as per project requirement)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering and excellent command over 2D and 3D CAD tools. The candidate will be responsible for mechanical design, detailing, and engineering support for robotics, industrial automation, material handling systems, and smart manufacturing solutions involving AI & IoT. The role requires readiness to work onsite and at customer project locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical concepts, layouts, and detailed designs for automation systems, robotic cells, conveyors, special purpose machines (SPM), fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
- Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent.
- Generate manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and part specifications.
- Perform basic engineering calculations related to strength, motion, load, torque, power transmission, and material selection.
- Coordinate with electrical, controls, robotics, and software teams for integrated system design.
- Support prototype development, testing, installation, and commissioning at customer sites.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering activities.
- Interface with vendors and suppliers for component selection and technical clarifications.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, safety norms, and customer specifications.
- Assist in documentation related to design manuals, SOPs, and project reports.
- Support continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
Solid understanding of basic mechanical engineering concepts such as:
- Machine design fundamentals
- Mechanisms & Kinematics
- Strength of Materials
- Manufacturing Processes
- Tolerances & GD&T; (Basic Level)
Technical Skills
- Excellent command over AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
- Proficiency in at least one 3D CAD software:
- - SolidWorks
- CATIA
- Creo
- NX
- or equivalent.
- Ability to interpret and create detailed engineering drawings.
- Basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes, motors, and linear motion systems.
- Familiarity with robotics and industrial automation components is an added advantage.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Willingness and flexibility to work onsite and travel for project execution.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
- 0–2 years for the junior role.
- 2–5 years for an experienced role in mechanical design.
- Experience in robotics, automation, SPM, or the material handling industry will be preferred.
