Job description:
1. Production Planning & Operations
- Plan and manage daily powder coating production schedules.
- Ensure timely completion of coating jobs according to customer delivery commitments.
- Optimize line utilization and minimize production bottlenecks.
- Monitor productivity, cycle times, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Coordinate with fabrication, welding, assembly, and dispatch departments.
2. Process Control
- Manage the complete powder coating process, including:
- Surface preparation (degreasing, phosphating, rinsing)
- Drying
- Powder application
- Curing oven operation
- Cooling and inspection
- Establish and maintain process parameters.
- Optimize powder consumption and transfer efficiency.
- Ensure consistent coating thickness and finish quality.
3. Quality Assurance
- Ensure products comply with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Monitor:
- Film thickness
- Gloss level
- Adhesion
- Impact resistance
- Salt spray performance
- Color consistency
- Investigate coating defects such as:
- Orange peel
- Pinholes
- Poor adhesion
- Uneven coating
- Color mismatch
- Contamination
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
4. Team Management
- Supervise operators, technicians, and line supervisors.
- Allocate manpower according to production requirements.
- Conduct employee training on:
- Powder coating techniques
- Safety procedures
- Equipment operation
- Quality standards
- Evaluate employee performance.
- Promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
5. Equipment & Maintenance
- Ensure proper operation of:
- Pretreatment plant
- Powder booths
- Powder guns
- Cyclone recovery systems
- Compressors
- Conveyor systems
- Curing ovens
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Reduce machine downtime.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements.
6. Material Management
- Monitor inventory of:
- Powder coatings
- Chemicals
- Consumables
- Spare parts
- Control powder usage and reduce wastage.
- Verify incoming material quality.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely replenishment.
7. Cost Control
- Reduce:
- Powder consumption
- Rework
- Rejects
- Energy consumption
- Improve first-pass yield.
- Monitor departmental budgets.
- Implement lean manufacturing initiatives.
8. Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- Workplace safety regulations
- Fire safety requirements
- Chemical handling procedures
- Environmental regulations
- Conduct safety audits.
- Ensure proper use of PPE.
- Manage waste disposal and pollution control systems.
9. Customer & Supplier Coordination
- Resolve customer quality complaints.
- Support customer audits.
- Coordinate with powder suppliers for:
- Recent color development
- Process optimization
- Technical support
- Participate in product approval processes.
10. Continuous Improvement
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma practices.
- Improve productivity and reduce defects.
- Standardize work procedures.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Lead process improvement projects.
11. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain records such as:
- Production reports
- Quality reports
- Rejection analysis
- OEE reports
- Downtime reports
- Maintenance records
- Chemical concentration logs
- Oven temperature records
- Audit documentation
- Training records
12. Coordination with Other Departments
Work closely with:
- Production Planning
- Fabrication
- Welding
- Quality Assurance
- Maintenance
- Procurement
- Stores
- Design/Engineering
- Dispatch
- Sales (for urgent customer requirements)

Typical Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Chemical, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Approximately 7–15 years of experience in powder coating or surface finishing, including at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
