Qualification: PhD in Biotechnology/Biochemistry with an academic post- doc/industrial
research experience
Experience: 4- 12 years

Job brief

- The candidate must lead a team to reach the goal and run the projects successfully for

both industrial and academic projects.
- The candidate is expected to make creative project plans for each project that will be

executed under him/her.
- The candidate should be proactive in troubleshooting problems that might arise during

an experiment.

Core skills required
• In depth knowledge and skill set pertaining to Molecular biology, genetic engineering,

protein expression and purification is mandatory

- Extensive knowledge of protein biochemistry and analytical techniques is required
- Sound knowledge in biocatalysis is a prerequisite
- Operational knowledge of fermentors and homogenisers is needed
- Brief knowledge/experience in carrying out the process development from R&D; scale





biocatalytic experiments and the associated troubleshooting is essential

- Should be able to teach and train his/her team in all the above-mentioned aspects as and

when required

- Must have good scientific writing skills and should be able to write scientific research

articles that can be communicated to high impact factor journals

- Must be able to do extensive literature search and improvise the existing techniques to

get better results

- Solid team spirit and commitment to positive growth of all team members
- Able to function independently and in cooperation with the team
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills

Additional skills required

- Skills in patent research and patent writing would be an added advantage
