Job Summary

The CNC Turning Machine Programmer & Operator is responsible for programming, setting, operating, and maintaining CNC turning machines to manufacture precision components as per engineering drawings while ensuring quality, productivity, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, and process sheets.
- Develop and edit CNC programs using G-code and M-code.
- Perform machine setting, tooling selection, and offset adjustments.
- Operate CNC Turning (Lathe) machines for production.
- Set cutting parameters such as speed, feed, and depth of cut for optimum machining.
- Conduct first-piece inspection and obtain quality approval before batch production.
- Measure components using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Dial Indicator, Height Gauge, and other measuring instruments.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish as per customer specifications.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and daily preventive maintenance checks.
- Monitor tool wear and replace inserts/tools when required.
- Maintain production records, inspection reports, and machine logs.
- Minimize machine downtime and material wastage.
- Follow 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and company safety procedures.
- Coordinate with Quality, Production Planning, and Maintenance departments.

Required Skills





- Knowledge of CNC Turning programming (Fanuc/Siemens/Mitsubishi controllers preferred).
- Strong understanding of G & M Codes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.;
- Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, and machining parameters.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments.
- Understanding of ISO quality standards and production documentation.
- Valuable troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Qualification

- ITI (Turner/Fitter/Machinist)
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- BE/B.Tech Mechanical (Preferred)

Experience

- Programmer: 3–6 years in CNC Turning Programming and Machine Setting.
- Operator: 1–3 years in CNC Turning Machine Operation.

Preferred Knowledge

- Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi CNC controls.
- Tool offset management and tool life optimization.
- Cycle time improvement techniques.
- Preventive maintenance practices.
- Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, and Kaizen.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Production target achievement.
- First-pass quality (FPY).
- Rejection and rework percentage.
- Machine utilization.
- Tool life optimization.
- On-time production completion.
- Compliance with safety and 5S standards.

Working Conditions

- Rotational shifts as per production requirements.
- Standing for extended periods and handling machine tools.
- Mandatory use of PPE and adherence to all safety guidelines.
