Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, designing, and developing mechanical products and systems. This includes instruments, controls, engines, and machines used in energy production, transmission, and measurement. This job profile is intended for early-career professionals who apply broad theoretical knowledge and require the ability to investigate and analyze problems. Solutions are typically discussed/verified with a more senior member.
Engineer Development Pathway Program Structure & Timeframes
Phase 1 (0–6 Months): Immersion & Rotations
• Hands-on exposure to turbine rotor repair workflow
• Rotations through balance, machining, rotor build/stretch, and inspection
• Goal: Build foundational knowledge and adaptability
Phase 2 (6–24 Months): Skill Mastery
• Focus on a chosen discipline (Balance/Rotor Dynamics, Machining, Rotor Assembly,
Inspection)
• Advanced technical training and certifications
• Goal: Achieve proficiency and independence in core tasks
Phase 3 (Final 4–6 Months): Value Creation Project
• Deliver a measurable improvement project for the division or company
• Demonstrate leadership and problem-solving skills
• Goal: Prepare for transition to salaried role
Phase 4 (Years 2–3): Transition to Leadership/Technical Role
• Positions may include Project Manager, Technical Representative, Production/Manufacturing Engineer, or Supervisor-in-Training
• Goal: Apply technical expertise in a leadership or customer-facing capacity
Phase 5: Long-Term Growth
• Career path toward Technical Expert or Operations Leadership
Performance Reviews
Regular evaluations during each year/phase to guide development and confirm readiness for transition to a salaried role.
