Job Purpose
To lead and manage production planning, material planning, inventory control, and supply coordination for API manufacturing operations. The role will ensure optimum utilization of manufacturing capacity, timely availability of materials, adherence to production schedules, and effective coordination with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage monthly, weekly, and daily production plans based on demand, inventory levels, manufacturing capacity, and business requirements.
- Develop production schedules for API/intermediate manufacturing batches and monitor execution against the approved plan.
- Prepare material requirement plans (MRP) for RM, PM, solvents, intermediates, and other production materials.
- Ensure timely availability of materials by coordinating with Procurement, Stores, Production, QA, QC, and other concerned departments.
- Monitor Production Plan vs. Actual and identify deviations, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints.
- Plan manufacturing batches based on equipment availability, campaign requirements, changeover time, manpower, and production priorities.
- Monitor RM, WIP, intermediate, solvent, and finished-goods inventory to maintain optimum stock levels.
- Analyze inventory aging, slow-moving/non-moving materials, excess inventory, and material shortages and initiate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production and Engineering teams for equipment availability and capacity planning.
- Review production priorities and revise schedules based on customer requirements, material availability, quality status, and operational constraints.
- Monitor batch cycle times, pending batches, production delays, and schedule adherence.
- Prepare and review PPIC MIS, inventory reports, production performance reports, and management dashboards.
- Ensure effective utilization of SAP/ERP/MRP systems for production and material planning.
- Coordinate with QA/QC regarding material release, batch status, testing timelines, and production priorities.
- Support demand forecasting, capacity planning, and long-term production planning.
- Identify opportunities for improving inventory turnover, planning accuracy, production efficiency, and schedule adherence.
- Lead and mentor the PPIC team and ensure timely completion of departmental activities.
- Conduct regular review meetings with Production, Stores, Procurement, QA, QC, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
- Ensure compliance with GMP/cGMP, SOPs, data integrity, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in audits, inspections, investigations, CAPA, and other quality/compliance activities related to PPIC whenever required.
Qualification:
B.Tech / M.Tech / B.Pharm / M.Pharm / M.Sc / MBA or equivalent qualification, preferably with experience in API/Pharmaceutical manufacturing.
