About the Role:

The Software Engineer will be primarily responsible for the handling and automation of complex test data requests, ensuring that high-quality and reliable data is provisioned across multiple databases and engineering systems to support testing needs across the organization. The role requires managing a high volume of incoming tickets, coordinating closely with cross-functional teams, and preparing data that is accurate, consistent, and suitable for a wide range of testing scenarios.

A key focus of this role is the design, development, and integration of backend services that power LIRA, T-Mobile's AI agent for automated test data requests. The engineer will design and maintain efficient data pipelines, SQL-based solutions, and REST APIs to streamline test data provisioning, reduce turnaround times, and ensure backend service reliability and robust error handling so that LIRA can resolve test data requests with speed and precision.

They will work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering, QA, and platform teams to ensure that test data environments remain highly available and fully optimized for testing use cases. This position plays a critical role in enabling effective validation cycles, ensuring smooth execution of testing operations, and supporting the overall productivity of the engineering organization through intelligent, AI-powered data infrastructure.

What Youll Do:

- Develop and enhance automated processes to reduce manual effort, accelerate turnaround times, and improve overall data readiness for testing teams.
- Assemble and validate large, complex test data sets that meet functional and non-functional requirements across testing scenarios.
- Generate insights into data readiness and pipeline health to support continuous improvement of test data operations.




- Develop and support synthetic test data generation to meet evolving testing requirements.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support evolving data infrastructure needs.
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that integrate with LIRA, T-Mobile's AI agent for automated test data request resolution.
- Collaborate closely with cross functional engineering, QA, and platform teams to understand data requirements and ensure precise delivery for various test scenarios.
- Participate in process improvements, automation, and infrastructure redesign projects.
- Perform additional duties and cross-functional projects as needed.

What Youll Bring:

- Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, Informatics, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline or equivalent experience.
- 36 years of experience in Python based API development engineering roles or test data engineering roles.
- Experience with REST API development and service integration.
- Solid proficiency in SQL and at least one of the following languages: Python, Java, Scala.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
