Job Description:OverviewFMApprovals is searching for a highly motivated business developmentengineer to drive growth within its fire protection and buildingmaterials segments across India and the Middle East. The successfulcandidate will play a crucial role in identifying newopportunities, enhancing customer engagement, and supportingproduct certification initiatives in theseregions.FM Approvals is aglobal leader in independent third‑party testing and certification.It evaluates property loss prevention products and services used incommercial and industrial facilities to ensure they meet rigorousstandards for quality, technical integrity, and performance. Itsworldwide certification process is built on scientific research,comprehensive testing, and more than a century of engineeringexperience. The FM APPROVED mark is recognized and respectedglobally, instilling confidence and strengthening credibility inthemarketplace.Responsibilities:Drivebusiness development across India and the Middle East aiming toincrease the adoption of FM Approvedproducts.Identify, qualify,and engage manufacturers, influencing decision‑makers to pursue FMApprovalscertification.Establish andnurture solid relationships with manufacturers, end users, andregulatorystakeholders.Identify,engage and represent FM Approvals at industry seminars,conferences, and trade shows,



including delivering technicalpresentations.Maintainawareness of regulatory and certification requirements in India andMiddle East.Travel,including overnight stays, as necessary to support customers andparticipate in industry events or engagements (approximately40%).Contribute tocertification projects, including scoping, auditing/witnessing,documentation, andreporting.Develop and applytechnical expertise across engineering and scientific disciplinesto support both internal teams and FM Approvalscustomers. Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimumof five years’ relevant experience.Experiencein business development, technical sales, or marketing within thefire protection industry. (Other industrial sectors may beconsidered.)Ability to translate technicalcertification requirements into value propositions forcustomers.Strong skills in lead management,disciplined follow-up, and stakeholderengagement.Confident communicator witheffective presentation skills for client meetings and industryevents.Proven ability to build and sustainrelationships with manufacturers, labs, and regulatorybodies.Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills, with proficiency in MicrosoftOffice.Previous travel or work experience inthe Middle East is desirable.Familiarity withproduct certification processes, fire protection products, and FMApprovals/FM Standards is considered anadvantage.
