Summary
The Assistant Manager – S&T; plays a
pivotal role in the successful planning, execution, and coordination of
Signal & Telecommunication (S&T;) projects within the railway
industry. This position is critical to ensuring that all S&T;
systems—ranging from signaling infrastructure and train control systems
to communication networks and safety -critical technologies—are delivered
on time, within budget, and in strict compliance with national and
international standards, design specifications, and regulatory
requirements. The incumbent will lead technical oversight of design
activities, including guidance, checking, and reviewing of engineering
deliverables, while fostering seamless collaboration across
multidisciplinary teams including design, site execution, safety, and
quality assurance. The role demands a high degree of technical
precision, project coordination acumen, and proactive risk management to
support client inspections, regulatory compliance, and smooth project
handover. This position is essential to maintaining operational safety,
system reliability, and the overall integrity of railway infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Support
the planning, execution, and coordination of S&T; project activities
across all phases, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality
benchmarks.
- Manage the execution of S&T; design works,
including providing technical guidance, conducting thorough checks, and
reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation.
- Coordinate
closely with design, site, safety, and QA teams to ensure alignment on
technical requirements, project timelines, and compliance standards.
- Track
project schedules, monitor progress against milestones, and proactively
address delays or bottlenecks, including managing material availability
and procurement timelines.
- Prepare detailed technical
reports, Daily Progress Reports (DPRs), weekly/monthly progress
presentations, and project status updates for internal and client
stakeholders.
- Ensure all S&T; installations and systems comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, and statutory regulations.
- Support
and coordinate client and safety authority inspections, including
preparing documentation, addressing findings, and implementing
corrective actions.
- Assist in the supervision and
performance evaluation of subcontractors involved in S&T; works,
ensuring adherence to technical, safety, and quality standards.
- Facilitate technical meetings, design reviews, and interface management sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate project records, drawings, and change management logs in compliance with project documentation protocols.
