Job Description (JD) Azure API Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Azure API Engineer to design, develop, secure, deploy, and manage APIs on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure API Management (APIM), RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, Azure Integration Services, and cloud-native development practices. The role will involve collaborating with application teams, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure API solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and implement RESTful APIs and microservices on Microsoft Azure.
- Manage and configure Azure API Management (APIM) for API publishing, versioning, security, and monitoring.
- Develop API policies, authentication mechanisms, throttling, caching, and transformation rules.
- Integrate applications using Azure services such as:
- Azure Functions
- Logic Apps
- Service Bus
- Event Grid
- Event Hub
- Azure Storage

- Implement OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and other API security standards.
- Create and maintain API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
- Troubleshoot API connectivity, performance, and security issues.
- Monitor API performance and usage through Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
- Collaborate with architects and development teams to define API standards and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security and governance requirements.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in API development and integration.




- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Azure API Management (APIM).
- Strong experience in designing and developing REST APIs.
- Proficiency in C#, .NET Core, Node.js, Java, or similar backend technologies.
- Experience with Azure Integration Services.
- Solid understanding of API lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of networking protocols, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and DNS.
- Experience with JSON, XML, SOAP, and REST services.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

- Microsoft Azure Certifications:
- AZ-204: Azure Developer Associate
- AZ-305: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- AZ-400: DevOps Engineer Expert

- Experience with Kubernetes (AKS) and containerized workloads.
- Knowledge of Azure Functions and serverless architectures.
- Experience with Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Exposure to API Gateway management in multi-cloud environments.
- Understanding of Event-Driven Architecture and Microservices patterns.
