Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced IBM i (AS/400 / iSeries) Developer to join our development team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in IBM i application development using COBOL/400 (CBLLE), RPGLE (Free-Form RPG), CLLE, DB2 for i, SQLRPGLE, and SQLCBLLE. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting mission-critical business applications while working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications on IBM i (AS/400 / iSeries).
- Develop and maintain programs using COBOL/400 (CBLLE), RPGLE (including Free-Form RPG), and CLLE.
- Build and optimize applications using DB2 for i (DB2/400), SQLRPGLE, and SQLCBLLE.
- Design, develop, and maintain triggers, stored procedures, and other database objects.
- Analyze business requirements and prepare technical design documents.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Write unit test cases and support integration and system testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Use Rational Developer for i (RDi) for development, debugging, code reviews, and troubleshooting.
- Utilize Git or other version control systems for source code management, branching, merging, and releases.
- Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions.
- Optimize application performance and database queries.




- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, QA, and Project Managers.
- Mentor junior developers and promote coding standards and development best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in IBM i (AS/400 / iSeries) application development.
- Strong programming expertise in COBOL/400 (CBLLE).
- Strong experience with RPGLE, including Free-Form RPG.
- Hands-on experience with CLLE programming and IBM i job control.
- Robust knowledge of DB2 for i (DB2/400) and SQL programming.
- Experience with SQLRPGLE and SQLCBLLE.
- Experience designing and maintaining triggers, stored procedures, and database objects.
- Hands-on experience using Rational Developer for i (RDi) or similar IBM i development tools.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Experience with unit testing and debugging IBM i applications.
- Proficiency with Git or other version control systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with IBM i performance tuning and database optimization.
- Knowledge of modern DevOps or CI/CD practices.
- Experience with automated testing tools for IBM i applications.
- Ability to mentor junior team members and lead technical discussions.
