Job Description: PLC/DCS Engineer (Control & Instrumentation / Industrial Automation)
Position: PLC/DCS Engineer (Control & Instrumentation)

Job Location: PAN India (Project-Based Travel Required)
About the Role
We are looking for enthusiastic and technically skilled PLC/DCS Engineers to join our Industrial Automation team. The role involves engineering, programming, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA, and HMI systems for power plants and process industries.
Fresh graduates with solid academic fundamentals in automation, instrumentation, electrical engineering, or control systems are encouraged to apply. Experienced professionals will have opportunities to work on end-to-end automation projects across engineering, testing, commissioning, and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Automation Engineering
- Develop & Configure: Program, configure, and modify PLC/DCS control logic.
- Control Strategies: Create and implement control strategies using logic diagrams, SAMA diagrams, functional diagrams, and process narratives.
- HMI/SCADA Design: Design and implement HMI and SCADA graphics.
- System Troubleshooting: Configure and troubleshoot PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA systems.
- Validation: Develop simulation logic for testing and validation.
Project Engineering
- Documentation Review: Interpret and review P&IDs;, Functional Diagrams, SAMA Diagrams, and Process Narratives.
- Database Management: Create and modify Hardware (HW) and Internal Point Databases.
- Simulation & Testing: Configure virtual controllers for simulation and testing; perform open-loop and closed-loop scaling based on hardware database ranges.
- System Integration: Convert controls and graphics from third-party DCS/PLC systems, and configure third-party communication protocols and interfaces.
- Technical Support: Support in-house server and workstation loading activities.
- Tool Utilization: Utilize engineering productivity tools such as Database Productivity Tool, Device Builder, and other automation software.
Testing & Commissioning
- FAT Execution: Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Simulation & Testing: Execute tie-back simulation, process simulation, and functional testing.
- Site Execution: Conduct loop checking, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
- Issue Resolution: Resolve technical issues during testing and commissioning, and support overall site commissioning activities.
- Documentation: Prepare complete engineering documentation after project completion.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in any of the following disciplines:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Electronics & Telecommunication
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- Power Engineering
- Control & Instrumentation Engineering
Experience Requirements
- Freshers (0 - 1 Year): Fresh graduates with academic projects, internships, or industrial training in PLC, DCS, SCADA, Automation, Electrical, or Instrumentation are encouraged to apply.
- Experienced Candidates (1 - 6 Years): Must have proven experience in one or more of the following: DCS Engineering, PLC Programming, Industrial Automation, Commissioning Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Process Automation, or Power Plant Automation.
Technical Expertise
Industrial Automation & Platforms:
- Core Areas: PLC Programming, DCS Engineering, SCADA Development, HMI Configuration, Control System Engineering,
Process & Industrial Automation.
- Preferred Platforms: Siemens, Allen Bradley (Rockwell), GE Fanuc, Mitsubishi, LabVIEW, PCS 7, and other leading PLC/DCS platforms.
Engineering Knowledge:
- Power Plant Process & Process Industry Automation.
- Instrumentation & Electrical Control Systems.
- Logic & Graphics Development.
- DCS/PLC Hardware Architecture & Third-Party Communication Protocols.
- FAT, Commissioning, Troubleshooting, Process Simulation, and Tie-Back Simulation.
Software Proficiency:
- AutoCAD
- Engineering Database Tools
- MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, etc.)
Skills & Competencies
Preferred Technical Skills
- Good understanding of industrial automation concepts and control logic development.
- Familiarity with power plant or process industry operations.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs;, and electrical schematics.
- Basic understanding of communication protocols used in industrial automation.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Willingness to learn new automation technologies and engineering tools.
