Job Title: Head of Department (HoD) Psychology (Professor/Associate Professor)

Role Overview

The Head of the Department of Psychology will provide visionary leadership to build a high-impact, industry-relevant, and research-driven department. The role requires balancing academic rigor with innovation, student employability, and institutional growth, while ensuring compliance with UGC norms and alignment with NEP 2020.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic & Academic Leadership

- Develop and execute a growth strategy for the department (new programs, student intake, branding)
- Design industry-aligned curriculum (e.g., clinical practice, organizational psychology, behavioural data science, counselling)
- Introduce value-added certifications and interdisciplinary courses
- Drive NAAC/NIRF rankings contributions and accreditation readiness

2. Program Development & Innovation

- Integrate technology in psychology (e.g., psychometrics tools, data analytics, AI applications in behaviour studies)

3. Faculty Leadership & Talent Building

- Implement performance-driven culture (KPIs: teaching quality, publications, student feedback, placements)
- Mentor faculty for research output, consulting, and executive education

4. Research, Consulting & Revenue Generation

- Build a research and consulting ecosystem (corporate training, assessments, mental health services)
- Secure funded projects, consultancy assignments, and collaborations
- Establish labs/centres (e.g., Behavioural Lab, Counselling Centre)




- Promote publications in Scopus/Web of Science indexed journals

5. Student Outcomes & Employability

- Ensure strong placement and internship pipelines (Hospitals, NGOs, EdTech, corporates)
- Develop career-oriented training (soft skills, psychometric testing, counselling skills)
- Track and improve student success metrics (placements, higher education, certifications)

6. Industry & Institutional Partnerships

- Build MoUs with hospitals, corporates, NGOs, schools, and wellness centers
- Organize guest lectures, workshops, and live projects
- Promote international collaborations and exchange programs

7. Administration & Operations

- Manage departmental budgets with a focus on ROI and efficiency
- Ensure smooth academic operations, timetabling, and compliance
- Handle student grievances and maintain discipline
- Contribute to university committees and strategic initiatives

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

- B.A/B.Sc & MA/M.Sc in psychology & Ph.D. in Psychology (mandatory, as per UGC/AICTE norms)
- Minimum 815 years of experience in teaching/research/industry
- At least 3–5 years in academic leadership roles (HoD/Program Head/Coordinator)
- Strong research and publication record
