Role & responsibilities

Procurement & Purchase Management

- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for mechanical engineering materials, components, fabrication items, consumables, and equipment.
- Review purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders in line with project and production requirements.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials to avoid operational and production delays.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with stores, production, and project teams.

Tender Management

- Handle preparation, submission, and follow-up of tenders, RFQs, RFPs, and techno-commercial bids.
- Analyze tender requirements, technical specifications, and commercial terms.
- Coordinate with engineering, finance, and management teams for tender documentation and approvals.
- Participate in Government, Defence, Aerospace, and industrial tendering processes.
- Maintain tender records, bid documentation, and contract files.

Vendor Management & Negotiation

- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and subcontractors.
- Conduct vendor negotiations for pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contractual agreements.
- Develop long-term supplier relationships to ensure quality and continuity of supply.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, cost, and service parameters.
- Conduct vendor audits and maintain approved vendor lists.

Cost Control & Commercial Activities

- Achieve cost savings through strategic sourcing and negotiation.
- Perform comparative statement analysis and techno-commercial evaluations.
- Monitor procurement budgets and material costs.
- Support contract finalization and commercial discussions with suppliers and clients.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure procured materials comply with technical specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspection and material approvals.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements.




- Maintain procurement documentation and audit-ready records.

Coordination & Reporting

- Coordinate with engineering, production, finance, logistics, and project teams.
- Prepare procurement MIS reports, vendor reports, and tender status reports.
- Lead and mentor procurement and purchase team members.

Preferred candidate profile

- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- MBA / PG Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Operations preferred.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in Procurement, Purchase, Tendering, or Supply Chain functions in Mechanical Engineering, Defence, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Fabrication, or Industrial Engineering companies.
- Strong experience in handling RFQs, tenders, techno-commercial evaluations, vendor negotiations, and procurement operations.
- Experience in sourcing mechanical components, raw materials, fabrication items, industrial equipment, and engineering services.
- Valuable understanding of Government, Defence, Aerospace, and industrial procurement processes preferred.
- Proven experience in vendor development, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BOMs.
- Hands-on experience in ERP/SAP systems, procurement documentation, and MIS reporting.
- Strong commercial acumen with focus on cost optimization and timely procurement.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, analytical, and team coordination skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced project and manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of ISO standards, procurement compliance, and quality systems preferred.
