Job Title: Associate Professor (Department of Paediatrics)

Role Summary The Associate Professor in Paediatrics will occupy a pivotal faculty position within a leading multi-super speciality teaching hospital that serves as the primary healthcare landmark for the Northeast region. This role requires a senior academician and clinician capable of integrating high-level clinical care with rigorous medical education and research. Operating within a facility equipped with 24x7 advanced diagnostic imaging and extensive intensive care units (NICU/PICU), the successful candidate will mentor the next generation of medical professionals while delivering expert care in a broad range of paediatric medical services.

Eligibility Qualifications.
Academic Qualifications
- MBBS degree from a recognised medical institution.
- MD, MS, or DNB in Paediatrics from an NMC/MCI recognised university or college.
Experience
- A minimum of 4 years of teaching experience as an Assistant Professor in Paediatrics in a recognised medical college or teaching institution.
- Completion of 1 year as a Senior Resident in Paediatrics in a recognised medical college after acquiring the postgraduate degree.
- Priority will be given to candidates with extensive work experience in recognised university or college settings,
demonstrating a proven track record in academic administration and bedside teaching.
Research and Publications
- Must have at least two research publications as per the latest NMC guidelines.
- Publications must be original papers, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, or case series published in journals indexed in Medline, PubMed, Central Science Citation Index, Science Citation Index Expanded, Embase, Scopus, or Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
- Should have completed the Basic Course in Medical Education Technology (BCMET) and the Basic Course in Biomedical Research (BCBR) from NMC-designated institutions.
Core Responsibilities and Technical Expertise
Clinical Excellence
- Provide expert paediatric care in a 500-bed multi-super speciality workplace, overseeing the management of complex cases in General Paediatrics and sub-specialities.
- Supervise and provide high-level clinical input in the 24x7 Intensive Care Units (NICU/PICU) and Emergency Paediatric services.
- Utilise advanced diagnostic imaging and laboratory data to formulate precise treatment plans for acute and chronic childhood illnesses.
Academic Leadership
- Deliver structured theoretical lectures, seminars, and clinical bedside teaching for undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD/DNB) students.
- Facilitate Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) and evaluate student performance through formative and summative assessments.
- Mentor postgraduate students in thesis formulation, research methodology, and evidence-based clinical practices.
Research and Innovation
- Lead and participate in departmental research initiatives, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and contributing to the institution’s academic output.
- Foster a culture of inquiry by staying abreast of contemporary advances in child health and regional health challenges.
Administrative and Supervisory Duties
- Assist the Head of Department in managing clinical rotations, curriculum development, and departmental administration.
- Ensure rigorous documentation of clinical case details, including morbidity and mortality data, for institutional and regulatory audits.
- Participate in interdisciplinary collaborations with other super-speciality departments to ensure holistic patient management.
Subject-Specific Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of growth and development, neonatal care, and paediatric infectious diseases.
- Proficiency in performing and teaching essential paediatric procedures and neonatal resuscitation.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: 22,00,000 to 24,00,000 per annum (commensurate with experience and academic credentials).
