Job Summary

The Head Cashier is responsible for managing all cash counter operations, ensuring accurate billing, cash handling, daily reconciliation, and compliance with company financial policies. The role also includes supervising cashier staff, maintaining customer service standards, and ensuring smooth day-to-day cash transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Cash & Billing Operations

Supervise all billing and cash counter activities.

Ensure accurate billing for cash, card, UPI, cheque, and other payment modes.

Verify all customer invoices before payment collection.

Ensure proper issuance of invoices, receipts, and payment acknowledgements.

Handle customer refunds, exchanges, and adjustments as per company policy.

Cash Management

Receive, count, and verify opening cash float.

Ensure accurate cash collection throughout the day.

Perform daily cash closing and reconciliation.

Deposit daily collections as per company procedures.

Maintain records of cash shortages or excess and report discrepancies immediately.

Team Management

Supervise and guide cashier team members.

Prepare cashier duty rosters and shift schedules.

Train recent cashiers on billing software and company SOPs.

Monitor cashier performance and ensure adherence to company policies.

Financial Control

Maintain proper documentation of all financial transactions.

Reconcile cash, card, UPI, gift vouchers, and other payment methods daily.

Coordinate with the Accounts department regarding daily collections.

Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements.

Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

Customer Service

Resolve customer billing and payment-related queries.

Handle billing complaints professionally and promptly.

Ensure a smooth and pleasant checkout experience.





Compliance & Security

Ensure safe custody of cash, POS machines, cheque books, and financial documents.

Follow all company cash handling and fraud prevention procedures.

Ensure compliance with statutory and organizational financial policies.

Required Qualifications

Graduate in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Additional certification in Accounting or Finance is an advantage.

Experience

4-8 years of experience in cashiering or retail finance.

Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or Head Cashier role.

Experience in jewellery, retail, or luxury retail is preferred.

Required Skills

Strong cash handling and reconciliation skills.

Knowledge of POS and billing software.

Basic accounting knowledge.

MS Excel and MS Office proficiency.

Leadership and team management skills.

Strong numerical and analytical ability.
