Role & responsibilities

- Supervise shift production operations excavation, loading, hauling, dozing and dumping — to meet the daily production plan.
- Discharge statutory duties of a Foreman / Mate under the Mines Act 1952 and Metalliferous Mines Regulations, including workplace inspection and entries in the statutory register.
- Supervise drilling and blasting operations, charging, stemming, blast area clearance, warning signals and post-blast inspection.
- Deploy manpower and equipment optimally across the shift and record production, machine hours and idle time.
- Ensure safe bench geometry, haul road condition, dump stability, illumination and drainage in the working section.
- Enforce PPE usage, secure operating procedures,



Standard Operating Procedures and Codes of Practice.
- Report accidents, dangerous occurrences and unsafe conditions immediately and support investigations.
- Coordinate with Survey, Geology and Maintenance teams for face preparation and equipment availability.

Preferred candidate profile

- Valid DGMS Foreman’s / Mate Certificate of Competency is mandatory.
- Experience in mechanised opencast mining with a large HEMM fleet.
- Blasting supervision experience; Shotfirer’s permit will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to work in rotating shifts at the mine site.
